Welcome to my Racing History Book.PAGE 3 September 1994, no wins, no places, no trophies.....I was still very much in love with Superkart racing. Already, the circuits I've raced at are Amaroo Park, Oran Park North, Oran Park South and Eastern Creek. How else could you race on these circuits that you know so well from watching your racing hero's on TV. Don't forget, no playstation or decent computer game simulations back in them days to get your fix either! Well it's that time again, the annual "2 Hour Enduro" at Oran Park. Remember I came out to watch it in 1993 and I learned that drive sprockets last 40mins. Whilst everyone elected to have a co-driver, not me, I wanted the whole 2 hours on my own!! My strategy was simple, with no automatic chain lube system allowed, I planned an actual chain lube stop every 20mins making a total of 5 stops. I bolted on a massive used coolant container T pieced together with the kart's original fuel tank giving a total fuel capacity of nearly 20 litres!!! My other secret weapon was the hardest kart tyre on the market, the Bridgestone YDS, these "bedrock special" tyres would last a whole season in KT100J racing. When the race started I was running with the back markers, every 20mins I'd come in for that chain lube, around and around I kept going and going. The field was getting smaller and so I must be looking better. I still raced very hard, I made my own groove around the circuit and did I mention that I still kept racing as hard as I could? In this race I learned to "airbox" the KT100S engine as my engine builder swore the little air-cooled Yamaha could never last this long without a rest on these long track circuits. At the end of 2 hours I was sure I did well but never imagined what I had just achieved. MY FIRST EVER TROPHIES.....yes 2 of them! 1st in the 100cc category and 3rd Outright. What a great feeling and I can still remember the exact results. I'm still very proud of what I achieved that day, a field full of experts and Schumacher's while a 7 month novice comes along and wins this 100cc class by 12 laps with a little planning, guts and determination!!!! Incidentally, this was the last time a "2 hour Enduro" was ever run. Outright Results 1st - Peter Worrall / Dale Harris 125 Gearbox - 150 Laps 2nd - John Pellicano / ??????? 250 ICE - 132 Laps 3rd - Sam Zavaglia - Solo Drive 100cc NGB - 125 Laps
